Washington has passed a bill that further improves marijuana users' protections. SB 5123 takes effect on January 1, 2024, and prohibit employers from refusing to hire applicants due to the legal use of marijuana outside of work. This bill specifically addresses the drug testing process used to detect marijuana usage. However, it also includes exceptions for positions under certain circumstances.
