Previously in Whalley, Lancashire floods have caused #catastrophic  damage, with over 300 homes and businesses affected and many residents needing to be rescued.

Only 2 weeks ago on 7th October, Previsico issued a #critical #warning which enabled flood wardens to take action to prevent the village from flooding.

It’s been two weeks since InsTech held an excellent event for #riskmanagers and innovative solution providers titled: Identify, Assess & Mitigate - The New Technology Available to Risk Mangers. 

The Previsico team was out in full force as seen in the images below, meeting with a great group of people including the risk managers in attendance along with seeing some familiar faces in the Insurtech space.

Previsico are happy to announce it has partnered with Overstone Art, which enables #banking and #insurance clients to dynamically manage the risks to art collections.
 
This #partnership enables Overstone to expand its insurance offering to specialist brokers and their clients, by enabling them to predict and prevent flood losses with Previsico's live actionable flood alerts.

The alerts are embedded into Overstone's online platform via API.

The impact of #flashflooding on the Railway network particularly significant because of the knock-on effect to the public, making the need for flood risk #mitigation a priority for train operators. 

Flash flooding occurs when intense rainfall overwhelms drainage systems causing severe water accumulation in a short period. Unfortunately, these events are becoming more frequent and severe due to the changing climate patterns.  

Network Rail, the body that maintains Britain’s rail #infrastructure, have committed to double their #investment in tackling the impact of climate change and making the railways more resilient to extreme weather*.  

The benefits of investing in this are: 

Service continuity: reduce the likelihood of service disruptions caused by flooding.  
Safety and passenger welfare: minimising the chance of accidents, such as derailments or collisions, that can occur due to flooding.  
Asset protection: protect their valuable assets from water-related damage and also extend the lifespan of their assets and reduce long-term maintenance expenses. 
Operational efficiency: Flooding can disrupt the normal operations of train services, resulting in increased operational costs and reduced efficiency.  
Reputation and customer satisfaction: Providing reliable and uninterrupted train services, even during extreme weather events. 
 
Network Rail have been using the Previsico service as part of their continued work on improving weather resilience. By investing in flood #resilience, they and other operators can better prepare themselves for extreme weather events and minimise the negative impacts of flooding on their operations, customers and reputation.
