New teammate alert! We’re thrilled to announce that Eva Smets has joined Qorium as our Chief Financial Officer & Head of Strategy. Her deep and relevant experience, passion for sustainability and incredible attitude bring massive value to the Qorium team. Eva’s financial acumen is matched by her strategic mindset and operational know-how. That powerful combination is sure to accelerate Qorium’s journey to #ReinventLeather . Prior to joining Qorium , Eva gained extensive international business experience while working in Latin America for fast-growing companies in the tech and healthcare industries. As CFO and Strategy Manager at AltumLab, she focused on improving financial transparency and operational efficiency. At Acalis, she led the expansion of the elderly care operator across Latin America, establishing it as a market leader and growing the company from 70 to 1,300 beds. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and strategic transformation initiatives earned her industry-wide recognition, including a personal commendation from the First Lady of Chile. She continues to support the elderly care sector as a board member of the non-profit organization Red Eleam and actively participates in mentorship programs to empower young women in Chile. Eva is deeply committed to making a positive social impact, and her leadership is characterized by a strong dedication to integrating financial success with social responsibility. She ensures that business growth is closely tied to the empowerment and development of the people within the company. With integrity and an entrepreneurial vision at the core of her approach, she is dedicated to creating meaningful, sustainable change. Eva holds a Master’s in Business Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and took part in exchange programs at UDEM (Mexico) and SMU (Singapore). On the personal front, Eva is a passionate writer and windsurfer, and has recently picked up wrestling, which will surely assist her in strategizing ways to tackle challenges! Our fantastic Chief Scientific Officer, Mark Post , was featured on BBC News for his innovative work in cell cultured products. The segment focused on Mark's work at Mosa Meat and its importance to fighting climate change, sustainably feeding the world, and ensuring animal welfare.
