At RayGen, we cherish values like treating each other with empathy and respect.  We believe that these values extend to how we deal with emotions in the workplace.  So, instead of the usual well-being discussions, we decided to have some fun during our RU OK Day Lunch and Learn session, by playing Emotions Charades.

Emotions Charades might sound like a game night favourite, but it was so much more. It required our team to express different emotions without using any words or sounds. This playful exercise helped us explore emotional literacy and expression in an engaging way, reminding us that emotions are a natural part of being human.

But here's what we learned— describing and deciphering emotions is a complex and challenging task. As we tried to act out these emotions, it became apparent that understanding and expressing our feelings can sometimes be quite intricate. It reinforced the idea that knowing your own emotions is crucial. If you're not feeling good, taking some time to understand what emotions are showing up for you is essential. After all, you can't look after others unless you firstly look after yourself and your needs.
Our belief is that emotional literacy is a vital skill that strengthens our connections, builds trust, and makes us a more resilient team. And that's where the "RU OK?" question comes in. It's not just a polite phrase to use occasionally; it's a regular practice that promotes openness, vulnerability, and empathy.

In a nutshell, our RU OK Day event showcased our commitment to emotional well-being, in line with our values. We encourage you to adopt "RU OK?" as a regular part of your interactions in the workplace. By making emotional well-being a priority, you'll witness the positive transformation it brings to your team dynamics and overall success.

- operating the world’s largest next-generation long-duration energy storage project and highest efficiency utility-scale photovoltaic project (Carwarp, Victoria).
- commissioning Australia’s largest solar module manufacturing facility (Hawthorn East, Victoria).
