"Tech Market Pulse - Sentiment, M&A and funding activities" - Kai Panitzki took part in a panel organized by Drake Star and CMS Deutschland.
 
Together with Jörg Binnenbrücker (Capnamic ), Jan Sessenhausen (Cusp Capital), Julian Riedlbauer (Drake Star) and Klaus Jäger (CMS Germany), he discussed the relevance of #sustainability and #AI in new and existing investments. The panel participants also shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of larger financing rounds in #Europe and discussed exit options ranging from #PE to #IPOs.
 
Our key takeaways from the joint discussion:
- #MarketAccess: in addition to growth capital, the role of investors in the collaboration with startups is above all a strong industry network and thus market access.
- #GrowthCapital: The lack of financing in later stages represents a lost potential for German and European investors, as investments, especially in larger investment rounds, are made in the early stages or come from abroad.

Decarbonizing real estate assets is fast becoming a business imperative, with environmentally sustainable properties achieving an average value premium of 20% - Manfred Heid (BitStone Capital, Realyze Ventures) discusses the #BusinessCase for #Sustainability at this year's PropTech Connect in London in September.

Together with the other speakers Miguel Nigorra Esteban (Fifth Wall), Flora Harley (Knight Frank), David Walker (British Land), Neil Slater (Redevco) and Christian Hendriksen (Rensair), he will discuss how to act on the Business Case for Sustainability.

How can the built environment be retrofitted? Our engaging panel discussion at #PropTechVienna focused on the future of sustainable #building and #retrofitting.
 
Manfred Heid explored untapped potentials for the #transformation of the industry together with the panelists:
- Hoang Anh Nguyen (Head of Communications & Sustainable Construction at alcemy) demonstrated the potential for reducing CO2 emissions and saving resources in construction projects
- Guy German (CEO of Okibo) provided insights into the value of robotics in the transformation of #existingbuildings
- Christoph Degendorfer (Founder & Managing partner of smino) shed light on the challenges in the process and how they can be tackled with innovative tools
- and Nico Dehnert (Co-founder and COO of Optiml) discussed why it is so difficult to #decarbonize portfolios, despite the fact that building renovation is not a new topic and the technologies are already available.

Technological solutions, such as those presented by the industry experts on our panel, offer great potential for increasing the efficiency and sustainability of #construction processes. In the current challenging market environment, the industry must exploit these untapped opportunities in order to achieve goals such as #NetZero.

At #PropTechVienna last week, Prof. Dr. Alexander v. Erdély  FRICS and our Managing Partner Manfred Heid analyzed the current state of the construction and real estate industry and identified future success factors in a transforming sector.
 
In the fireside chat, the former CEO of CBRE Deutschland GmbH and future Spokesman of the Board of the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA) outlined why he expects a #bright future for the #realestate industry despite the current challenging market situation:
- To achieve a successful future, the industry needs to #collaborate: Planning, building and operating must be considered together. Building "bridges" between the various fragments of the real estate ecosystem and reducing #complexity are crucial.
- Operating costs are a multi-fold of #construction costs and therefore offer great savings potential, bearing in mind the entire #lifecycle of #buildings.
- On the road to #climateneutrality, Prof. Dr. Alexander v. Erdély  FRICS emphasizes that in future we will have to consider whether we optimize our #buildingstock to reduce #CO2emissions or whether we reduce CO2 emissions in #energygeneration - this varies from country to country.
