POV: when a big corporation steals your company name… #truestory So this week, we got a strange email that a large corporation (aka PunaMusta Oy ) decided to take our name. They even proposed to send us their newly branded caps and sell us their services, because they are now called Rebl - just like us. Huh? This weird situation got us thinking: IN WHAT WORLD DID THEY THINK IT WAS OKAY?! This clearly passed from a legal perspective but aren't we allowed to expect a bit more integrity and respect from a publicly listed corporation?? What a shame that when there are so few Finnish companies aiming to go international, we shoot each other in the foot. It just ends up being bad for us all. As Rebls, we have grown the brand to more than 200 cities in Finland through blood, sweat and tears for the past 3 years. We’ve been on national TV a dozen times and sold 2,000,000 meals. We’ve invested our own money, alongside prominent investors to build the brand. Today every 20 seconds on average, a Rebl product is sold. And now, from our own backyard, comes this Goliath that claims that they are now the Rebls, with the same unique spelling mistake. As the small David, we can't help it if Goliath, with 20 x the turnover, comes and tramps on our brand work without caring about anything. It makes us wonder if in these challenging times in Finland we need more entrepreneurship and unique ideas but also respect, integrity and humanity. We need rules to make sure the large corporations don’t just tramp the little ones under their feet. Now, when a consumer, job seeker or customer googles Rebl, every other search result is Punamusta group and every second search is us.
