📜 50+ years of innovation – Renishaw's motorised heads 

The PH9 motorised probe head, introduced by Renishaw in 1980, revolutionised the CMM industry by providing an automatic and repeatable method of changing the probe angle. It offered 720 different positions and required calibration only once for each position, greatly improving CMM throughput.

📆 The PH9A version, which featured the Renishaw autojoint, took things a step further by allowing automated probe/stylus changes without the need for requalification. 

📆 Fast forward to 1989, and the PH10 range was released as the successor to the PH9. It offered increased torque and the ability to carry multi-wire probes, paving the way for new optical, scanning, and strain gauge touch probes. This made it indispensable in the aerospace and automotive industries, where traceability, accuracy, and high throughput are paramount. 

📆 In 2013, we introduced the PH10 PLUS range, offering a 20% improvement in repeatability and significant internal design and component enhancements.

Renishaw motorised heads greatly expanded the capability of CMMs in the market and are still a preferred end-user choice for high-performance machines worldwide  🌐

Data is key to achieving manufacturing process control. Many Equator™ gauging system customers benefit from an integrated machine tool solution using Renishaw's Intelligent Process Control (IPC) software.

The gauging results can be easily read in real-time by IPC software, which offers the ability to connect to certain modern machine tool controls. This allows offset values to be updated, enabling true automated process control. Data from the Equator gauging system can be used to update offsets repeatably and reliably, compensating for common causes of process instability such as tool wear and thermal drift.
