It's time to start incentivizing reproducible science.

It's very concerning that centralized systems like Google Scholar can be easily gamed and manipulated by bad actors without appropriate countermeasures from the platform. This is yet another reason why building decentralized science (DeSci) will be necessary. So many institutions and global scientific efforts now emphasize Google Scholar citation metrics and h-index. In fact, in some countries, your entire academic career can depend on these metrics.

More often than not, this reliance starts from the very beginning:
1. Want to be recognized as a productive undergraduate intern?
2. Applying for a graduate student fellowship?
3. Looking for a competitive PhD position?
4. Seeking post-doc opportunities?
5. Working on your tenure-track professorship?

You name it—getting awards, promotions, and recognition in modern academia often boils down to citation-related metrics. Quality is becoming increasingly underrated. Assessing quality is hard, but that doesn't mean we should forgo it.

I hope more people realize how broken the system is and are willing to take further steps in building the DeSci space. While DeSci may not solve everything, it will help keep the power balance in check, ensuring that the overall academic and scientific system is not rigged in favor of certain unscrupulous groups.

At this point, it's unclear which solution would work best. However, efforts to develop a reputation-based approach that doesn't just avoid exploitation but instead embraces it to promote healthy research rewards might be a better option. Summary: The lettuce grew less in this treatment compared to the others. However, the temperature for the experimental system was outside of the normal range because of poor cooling.
