AWS Quantum Service Adds Rigetti System With 24-Hour Availability

AWS Quantum Service has integrated Rigetti Computing's 84-qubit Ankaa-2 system into its platform, significantly enhancing its quantum computing service offerings. This addition allows customers worldwide to run quantum tasks continuously, improving accessibility and efficiency. The Ankaa-2 system is among the highest qubit count devices available on AWS Braket, aligning with AWS's goal to provide diverse quantum hardware options. Furthermore, the Braket Pulse feature enables researchers to conduct advanced experiments, fostering innovation in quantum applications across various industries.

We are thrilled to announce that alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS), Imperial College London, and Standard Chartered, we were awarded an Innovate UK grant to develop quantum machine learning techniques designed to enable financial institutions to more effectively process, interpret, and make decisions with complex data streams. 

Financial institutions need to continuously interpret complex data streams to extract information necessary for providing many services, including accurate credit risk evaluation and predicting emissions in the context of green finance. Classical machine learning techniques used to assist and provide insights to these services have limitations as these data streams are, in general, complex. Combining quantum computing with classical machine learning methodology could offer more powerful resources for processing these data streams, given the potential for quantum computers to process some types of information more efficiently than with classical resources alone.

Our 84-qubit Ankaa™-2 system is now commercially available to all of our customers via Rigetti Quantum Cloud Services (QCS™). We are also excited to announce that the Ankaa-2 system has achieved a 98% median 2-qubit fidelity, a 2.5x improvement compared to our previous QPUs. 

The public launch of the Ankaa-2 system follows the release of the Novera™ QPU, our first commercially available QPU, which is based on the same Ankaa-class architecture and designed for hands-on access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware for foundational quantum computing R&D.
