Long-term power purchase agreements signed with Meta: We will supply the company with clean electricity from two of our solar farms in the U.S., with a combined capacity of 374 megawatts.

The projects located in Illinois and Louisiana are currently under construction with commissioning for both sites planned in late 2025. The one in Louisiana being our first renewables project in the state.

A great development that allows us to further support the demand for clean energy in the U.S. with our rapidly growing renewables portfolio in the country.

In the first half of 2024, RWE’s power production from renewables reached a record level of 26 TWh and accounted for 45% of the total power production. At the same time, we have reduced our CO2 emissions by 27% compared to the first half of 2023.
 
We continue to massively invest in the value-creating expansion of our geographically and technologically broadly diversified portfolio. In the first half of 2024, we invested €4.5 billion net in new plants and made the final investment decisions for the construction of further wind, battery and solar projects with a total capacity of 2.9 gigawatts (GW). A total of 10 GW of new capacity is currently under construction.

After an exceptional prior year, adjusted EBITDA stood at €2.9 billion in the first half of 2024 thanks to a good performance across all segments.

Four gigawatts of offshore wind power – success for RWE in the latest German offshore wind tender!
 
The two sites we secured in the North Sea can potentially host wind farms with a capacity of two gigawatts each. The final investment decision for both sites should be made by 2027 and 2028 respectively while construction at sea is expected to begin in 2029 and 2030. The projects will be fully commissioned by 2031 and 2032 respectively. RWE will explore the possibility of developing the offshore projects together with TotalEnergies.

And off we go! We are kicking off green hydrogen production in Lingen, Germany. 

The 14-MW pilot plant can produce up to 270 kilogrammes of green hydrogen per hour using electricity from renewable sources. 

At our new plant, we are testing two electrolysis technologies: an alkaline electrolyser from Sunfire and a PEM electrolyser from ITM Power, installed by Linde Engineering. 

The insights we gain there will help us to develop and operate future hydrogen production facilities efficiently. 

The commissioning of this plant marks the starting point for the development of our Lingen site into one of Germany's flagship locations for hydrogen.
