Biosimilars have been available in Japan since 2009. So, why does biosimilar uptake lag behind other key markets globally and what can we learn from Europe's mature and well-developed biosimilar industry to improve the situation in Japan?🌎

Last week, we sponsored a panel discussion with Nikkei Business Publications, where Peter Stenico, Global Head Biosimilars and Country President Austria, joined leading Japanese public health and policy experts to discuss solutions for increased biosimilar adoption in Japan.

The discussions yielded useful insights into what has helped drive successful biosimilar adoption in Europe to date. Continuing to review and adopt approaches and policies that have contributed to strong uptake in other markets will be vital in supporting expanded access to biosimilars in Japan in the future.
