Celebrating 20 Years of Innovation: Partnership with Epic Games As part of our ongoing series celebrating key milestones, we’re excited to share how our collaboration with Epic Games helped expand the capabilities of Unreal Engine in the simulation & training market in 2018 👨🏫 Background: Epic Games was dominating the gaming market with major titles such as Fortnite , Unreal Tournament, and Gears of War. As Epic looked for new growth markets, simulation & training was identified as a prime candidate for disruption. Existing Image Generators were expensive and used legacy graphics pipelines that were highly controlled by a few incumbent players. Unreal Engine, by contrast, offered state of the art rendering on consumer hardware that was flexible and easy to integrate with. Epic knew that rendering a visual scene was only half the equation, and it was critical that their customers could also precisely warp & blend the scene onto domes, and immersive screens used in simulation. Epic turned to Scalable based on our reputation in the MS&T industry as leaders in the field of display alignment and high-performance visual systems. 🚀 The Integration: Scalable worked closely with Epic Games to integrate Scalable’s SDK directly into nDisplay, the multi-display framework for Unreal Engine.
