Last night, Covent Garden kicked off the festive season with its annual switch on extravaganza, as Hollywood actor and West End star, Luke Evans, along with host-extraordinaire, Myleene Klass, turned on the world-famous Covent Garden Christmas lights, including the iconic 55ft Christmas tree and a brand-new lighting installation in Seven Dials. The event consisted of spectacular performances from Tina! - The Tina Turner Musical, the cast of Mean Girls The Musical and the London International Gospel Choir, all in aid of principle charity partner Save the Children UK . Christmas arrived on Carnaby Street with the launch of a brand-new and immersive installation Into The Light, a breathtaking display of six-metre long sculptural light forms and thousands of energy-efficient LEDs that glow with warm, golden hues. Visitors revelled under the glow of the stunning twinkling lights on the iconic street, as Carnaby Street came alive with live choir performances, mulled wine bar and endless festive activations with brands across the streets of Soho, all in partnership with Global's Make Some Noise . Shaftesbury Capital commemorated Armistice Day with an event held on Covent Garden’s West Piazza on Tuesday 5th November, to honour those who served in wartime and who worked in Covent Garden Markets. Three Standard Bearers from the Royal British Legion joined in the ceremony, Fr. Alan Robinson of Corpus Christi Maiden Lane gave prayers and music was provided by the British Imperial Military band. The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Robert Rigby laid the wreath along with Shaftesbury Capital Executive Director, Michelle McGrath. Shaftesbury Capital has announced that Peak Performance , the renowned Scandinavian outdoor brand has opened its debut UK store in Covent Garden, at 49 Long Acre. To celebrate the launch, Peak Performance hosted a one-of-a-kind activation, transforming the historic Covent Garden Piazza into the home of a ‘ski rail jam’.
