The number of referrals to both NHS Talking Therapies and for starting treatment has increased dramatically since its inception. In 2011/12, there were 887,452 referrals, which nearly doubled to 1,676,985 by 2019/20. The strain this is putting on mental health services is at an all time high. If there were any doubts before, it is clear now that increasing access to mental health therapies is of paramount importance. Digital therapy is one way to start addressing this, and with a concerted effort, we can increase access for all.
