Cybersecurity in Fintech: Reflections on PM Modi's Address at the Global Fintech Festival

At the Global Fintech Festival, Prime Minister Modi emphasised a vital truth—cybersecurity in fintech is not just about preventing financial losses; it's about protecting reputation. In today's digital economy, where trust is the backbone of financial transactions, a single breach can undo years of brand-building.

The impact of a damaged reputation often surpasses the immediate financial loss, with long-lasting effects on customer trust and business sustainability.
However, despite growing awareness, I still see many decisions in the industry driven by cost-cutting or quick fixes rather than well-informed choices that deliver the highest value. While this may appear cost-effective in the short term, it can be dangerously shortsighted. Cybersecurity should be seen not as an expense but as an investment in the core infrastructure of fintech.
