Sphere Entertainment Co. and #STMicroelectronics worked together on a custom image sensor for Big Sky – the world’s most advanced camera system – used to capture ultra-high-resolution content for Sphere in Las Vegas.  ST’s imaging foundry manufactured this first-of-its-kind, 18K sensor capable of capturing images at the scale and fidelity necessary for Sphere’s display. Big Sky’s sensor – now the world’s largest cinema camera sensor in commercial use – works with the world’s sharpest cinematic lenses to capture detailed, large-format images in a way never before possible. 

As a leader in the development and manufacturing of image sensors, ST’s imaging technologies and foundry services cater to a wide range of markets, including professional photography and cinematography. Big Sky’s 316-megapixel sensor is almost 7x larger and 40x higher resolution than the full-frame sensors found in high-end commercial cameras. The system is also capable of capturing images at 120 fps and transferring data at 60 gigabytes per second.

The YES Network and MSG Networks announced today that they have formed Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (“GAME”), a new 50/50 joint venture to capitalize on technical and operational synergies associated with YES’ and MSGN’s streaming services. 

GAME will also offer turn-key digital content distribution services, including platform technology, operational support and comprehensive data analytics to third parties, utilizing the combined technical and operational expertise each company has garnered from the respective successful launch and operation of the YES App and MSG+.

Sphere was honored with the prestigious Judges Award for Creativity and Innovation by the Hollywood Professional Association at the 2023 HPA Awards! The award is presented to groundbreaking contributions in creative storytelling and technical innovation, and Sphere was recognized for introducing a new era of immersive entertainment and shared audience experiences. 

Andrew Shulkind, Alex Luthwaite and Deanan DaSilva accepted the award on behalf of the entire Sphere team. Congrats to all HPA category winners and nominees!

Today, Phish announced four performances at Sphere on April 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2024. Each of Phish’s shows at Sphere will feature completely unique setlists AND visuals, making every show a truly once-in-a-lifetime audio-visual experience. These shows mark the beginning of a new relationship between Phish and Sphere, but they will be the only shows Phish will perform at the venue in 2024.
 
Fans can request tickets now at tickets.phish.com through 9am PT Monday, December 11. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, December 15 at 10am PT.
