Instantly accessible to any cyclist via the Spokesafe app, this trial helps us in our mission to keep more bikes safe and make active travel as easy as possible. With bookings available by the day, week or month, cyclists no longer have to rely on an antiquated system; signing up for a waiting list, and waiting for a key card or fob to be delivered all of which minimises potential trips by bicycle. Instead, cyclists can efficiently book a space through the Spokesafe app and get on with making more active travel trips, with the added peace of mind that their bike will be there when they return. With this latest update to our app, cyclists can now flag their parking space as empty when they’re done, making it immediately available for others. This simple step means more of us can securely park our bikes using the same infrastructure. Lovely to see the Newport Cycle Hub (which we manage for Mark Seymour at The Gap Wales) highlighted on the BBC today. While the headline might be a bit of a downer, our facility at Newport is reported as a shining light - Wales' first 24/7 bike storage facility. And in a week where the wider active travel world hasn't seen the reported growth we all wanted, here's some data demonstrating that best-in-class infrastructure really does lead to behaviour change: - Since opening at the end of 2022, our operating system Spokesafe_OS has recorded 14,000 accesses at the facility - that's 14,000 cycle journeys in & out of Newport city centre. - 76% of respondents to our survey reported cycling into town more frequently since the facility opened. 51% said they would have used a car to get to Newport city centre without the facility. - And the facility is continuing to grow steadily. Month 1 saw less than 50 accesses, while July recorded over 1300 accesses. There's still plenty of work to do, but the Newport Cycle Hub is evidence that providing cyclists with the core infrastructure they need, really does lead to more journeys by bike, more often. https://lnkd.in/drkhdBm9

The New Town Bike Hub has gone live on the Spokesafe platform. But here’s a location with a twist! Yes, it’s our first location which solely does eBike & eCargo bike rentals - there’s no parking here. We’re managing this for a local volunteer group in New Town, Colchester, using Spokesafe_OS to remove all the hard work so they can focus on the good stuff - helping their local community get started with all things cargo bike. Our Central London network of Q-Park UK Hubs has hit 60,000 accesses via the Spokesafe app. That’s right - the Spokesafe app has facilitated journeys by bike for regular commuters, one-off cyclists visiting the centre of town for leisure, and those who use bikes for work over 60,000 times. We've long believed that it's not the size of the facility that is important; it's how you manage it. With just a combined total of 138 racks, our focus has been making sure that Q-Parks facilities can reach their full potential, ensuring more of us ride into town more often. https://lnkd.in/eMH6kBsS

Southside Shopping Centre Cycle Hub is now live on the Spokesafe network. One of our core theses is that cycle parking doesn’t have to be difficult. Whilst showers, dry-racks and the extra trimmings are appreciated - they aren’t essential. Sometimes all a cyclist wants is just a secure spot to drop off, and pick up their bike again within a few hours. Working with Southside, what we have done here is add a Spokesafe_OS connected secure door onto a room with pre-existing racks, and bish bash bosh, Wandsworth now has a 24/7 Cycle Hub with Day passes at just £1.
