We back bold agritech businesses and entrepreneurs who MOVE FAST, THINK BIG and are committed to building solutions for problems that reach from farm to fork.

We have one goal in mind…help entrepreneurs grow global agritech businesses. 

Sprout is an eight month accelerator for entrepreneurs with ideas or businesses from farm to fork.

The accelerator features have been designed based on studying the journeys of successful agritech start-up companies. By taking the key learning's from inventors, entrepreneurs, investors and employees in these start-ups, Sprout has designed a world leading accelerator in the agritech sector.

Every year we'll identify the best eight to 12 agritech start-ups from across the globe. By being part of Sprout, you get the following benefits:

-  Up to a one hour call per week with the Sprout team to track progress against your milestones

-  One to two hours per week of advice/input from the Sprout mentor and expert network

-  Attendance at four two day underground events, held in different locations each month. At these events you 
    will workshop key areas of your business with experts and mentors

-  Pitching and more pitching. Refining your pitch and story to customers, investors and partners so you win support for your value proposition

-  Collaboration and development of the documentation of your business plan and business model

-  Ability to take five to ten individual days away during the accelerator period to travel for specific meetings or business development activities

-  Up to 10 hours per week of Sprout specific work
  
At the end of the accelerator the companies will have an opportunity to present their company and team to a hand picked group of investors, corporate partners and potential customers at the Sprout Partners Summit. This event allows the companies the opportunity to continue their rapid progress achieved through the Accelerator.

Congratulations to Sprouts Research Engagement Lead Erena Calder Hawkins who has been selected for the inaugural cohort of the Te Ara Pōtiki programme and will be working for ZeaKal, Inc in San Diego. 

An amazing opportunity, we look forward to hearing all of Erena's insights and learnings along the way, as well as when she returns to Sprout in October.

Take the bite out of the cost of living crisis with a Mystery Bag from Foodprint.  

Foodprint is Aotearoa’s food rescue app. They partner with local eateries, allowing them to sell surplus food for a discount to prevent it from going to waste while retaining food value. Starting from $5, each Mystery Bag contains 2-4 food items and comes with a generous side of sustainability and monetary savings. 

Foodprint partners with over 360 eateries across 17 cities and towns throughout Aotearoa and since their inception in 2019 has prevented more than 150 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions through food rescue. 👏

🐑Congratulations Fleecegrow on winning the winner of the New Zealand National Fieldays Society  Innovation Awards - Prototype Award for its sustainable strong wool replacement for rockwool and peat used in greenhouse growing.

🚀 ESPY Ocean won the Australian Space Awards Earth Observation Program of the Year award. On top of that, the school group they mentored for the Space Base Methane Challenge won with their methane detection program.

⚠ Inspirational international student story alert! ⚠ 

Dr Balam Jimenez is originally from Jalisco on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and came to Aotearoa New Zealand to complete a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington. Becoming a Dad while studying here was his inspiration to inventing a quick and cost-effective test that will ensure that his daughter and future generations have access to kai moana that is safe to eat. Food-borne illness in seafood is not just a problem that makes people very sick but costs the global aquaculture industry approximately eight billion dollars each year.

Following the completion of his PhD, Dr Jiménez founded Tonalli Moana and 
credits the support he received from Victoria University throughout his PhD study, along with the personal, professional, and financial support received from New Zealand science and innovation research groups, as key to getting him where he is today.
