Use AI to address 100 real world challenges in 100 days – that was the challenge posed by Google Cloud, Ministry of Communications and Information, Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Smart Nation Singapore, who organised the AI Trailblazers Initiative in Singapore.
 
SJ's Integrated Solutions’ tech team took up the challenge, and created a service bot prototype that automates the process of responding to feedback from residents at public housing estates. The organisers were won over, considering the fact that the town councils process 2,000 feedback items daily.
 
The trailblazing doesn’t end here. The team is working hard to bring the prototype to life, and has partnered Nee Soon Town Council to test the bot and train administrators to use it, with the aim of pushing it out to all public housing estates across Singapore so that town councils can better serve residents. It’s another story of SJ’s continuing efforts to identify opportunities for AI, machine learning and digital technologies to enhance our services to clients, while remaining adaptable to the changing needs of society.

How can #urbanplanning effectively blend with nature to cultivate a lively community? Watch as Kenny C., an associate at SJ, shares how the design of the award-winning HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir Clubhouse exemplifies the significance of creating spaces that not only serve practical purposes but also encourage a deep connection with the surroundings and meaningful interactions among people.
 
The project has also recently received the First Award in the Sports & Recreation (Built) at the Global Design & Architecture Design Awards 2023 and an Honorable mention in the Architecture MasterPrize 2023.

It’s almost unheard of that an architect in Singapore gets to restore a 100-year-old building for the next 100 years, but that’s exactly what Ivy Koh, Deputy Chief Operation Officer at SJ architecture is doing. Ivy worked on restoring the award-winning Temasek Shophouse in 2019 and is now back on the project, guiding the design team on the extension of the shophouse.
 
Temasek Shophouse is envisioned as a downtown social impact hub when completed in 2025. The shophouse will be expanded, featuring diverse spaces for events and exhibitions, as well as social enterprises, retail, and food and beverage outlets to serve the community.

Post-COP 28, we have signed an MOU with five consortium partners Chevron Singapore, Keppel Data Centres, Pan-United Corporation, Air Liquide Singapore, Osaka Gas Singapore and Pavilion Energy Singapore to accelerate the development of cost-effective energy transition solutions. The consortium will develop Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Sequestration techniques, pivotal to Singapore’s decarbonisation efforts, as a way to capture carbon emissions from industrial processes and either reuse or store them. Another area of focus is the production, transportation, distribution and utilisation of lower carbon hydrogen and its derivatives at scale.
