Searles Valley Minerals is celebrating a major birthday for one of its longest serving employees. Arzell Hale turned 88 in October. While this is an accomplishment all on its own, more remarkable is that he continues to make significant contributions for Searles Valley Minerals. Arzell is currently the Director of Government Affairs and Public Relations, working as the spokesman for the company and as the contact person for media and the public. He actively represents SVM while interacting with local, state and federal government personnel and serving on numerous Boards. He was most recently involved in helping SVM gain a $13 million grant to help with the purchase new locomotives for SVM’s Trona Railway Company. Arzell started working for Searles Valley Minerals when it was owned by Kerr McGee Chemical Corporation in 1978 as a Safety Engineer. He worked his way up through the company in Safety, then Manager of Employee Relations, Safety, Health and Security, then Director of Environmental, Health, Security, HR and Public Policy before reaching his current position. Arzell’s mission has always been to help Searles Valley Minerals and its employees. Arzell has lived in Trona since arriving in 1978. Every year he takes a day off work on his birthday to ride his horse into the desert. This year was no exception. Searles Valley Minerals celebrates Arzell Hale for his dedication and contributions to the company.
