Swire Properties has announced that its mixed-use development INDIGO Beijing will be renamed “Taikoo Place Beijing” after the completion of its Phase Two extension. This marks the debut of Swire Properties’ renowned “Taikoo Place” brand in the Chinese Mainland, and will set new standards for integrated, mixed-use developments in the city. Once the Phase Two extension is complete, the 860,000 sqm development will feature eight Grade-A office towers, a premium shopping mall with indoor and outdoor concepts, and a new EAST lifestyle hotel and serviced apartments. 【Together we can turn today’s waste into tomorrow’s resource】 At Swire, our Waste Management Policy sets out how we manage and reduce waste across our operations. Let’s see some examples! 🗑Avoid and reduce Single-use materials are avoided where possible. Swire Coca-Cola has cut the amount of plastic in its packaging of bottled beverages, and has installed around 160 Bonaqua water refill stations across the city (as of 2023). We also spread the message of waste reduction among our people and customers: Swire Properties ’ Green Performance Pledge assists tenants in using less energy and water, and cut waste – so far we see an encouraging 50% participation rate across tenants in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. ♻️Reuse, recycle and recover One of our targets is Zero Waste to Landfill. To get us there, we collect and sort different types of waste and work closely with our recycling partners. Take HAECO Hong Kong as an example, which separates waste, and recycles wood and lead acid batteries. In 2023 alone, HAECO recycled over 171 tonnes of wood. The Swire Coastal Outreach Hub has officially opened! The facility was developed by The University of Hong Kong ’s (HKU) Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) and funded by 太古基金 Swire Trust . Swire has a long history of supporting HKU in promoting marine science through the Swire Marine Laboratory, established in the 1990s and now known as SWIMS. Nestled within the Cape D’Aguilar Marine Reserve, Hong Kong’s only marine protected area, the new hub will soon offer educational tours to the public. These tours will highlight the importance of conserving biodiversity and showcase the cutting-edge coastal research conducted by SWIMS. The facility aims to deepen the community’s appreciation of Hong Kong’s rich marine biodiversity and encourage greater protection of the ocean. In mid-October, over 150 team members from across the Group gathered for the three-day “Swire ESG Forum 2024”. The company's Property division develops, owns, and operates mixed-use properties. This division's property investment portfolio comprises office and retail premises, serviced apartments, other luxury residential accommodations, and commercial mixed-use developments; and trading portfolio consists of residential properties. It also owns and manages two hotels in Hong Kong and four hotels in Mainland China, as well as owns interests in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in the United States. The company's Aviation division provides flight catering and ramp, passenger and cargo services, and aircraft maintenance and modification services. As of December 31, 2021, it had a fleet of 234 aircraft. Its Beverages division owns rights to manufacture, market, and distribute refreshing soft drinks to consumers. The company's Trading & Industrial division retails and distributes footwear, apparel, and accessories through its 164 retail outlets; sells passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and scooters; operates a chain of 538 bakery stores; packages and sells sugar products under the Taikoo Sugar brand; and offers waste management services.
