As we count down the remaining days to Hamburg Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), once again the aviation accessible tour bus rolls into town and takes its place in the vast swathe of numerous aircraft type hangers that makes up the floorplan of this great exhibition. The only thing that takes off at AIX is your step count. Last year at AIX we achieved the ‘Star of the Show’ status thanks to journalist Seth Miller . Airlines and Press from all over the world laid siege at the Delta Flight Products (DFP) booth. I remember Daniel MacInnes PriestmanGoode saying to me that if we had a map of the world on the wall, we could put a pin in most countries flagship carriers that has visited us, such was the appetite. Airlines acknowledged the clever way the design had addressed the no loss of pax place - thus the elephant in the room returned to the jungle. The gritty Western Saloon Bar of social media lit up with love as videos and images were shared over the ether, the wheelchair using disabled community felt that they were closer than ever to that holy grail. Of course there were questions, many questions, the biggest of all was ‘WHEN’. The feedback in the comments was incredible, moreover we amended many aspects of the design based on those observations from the wheelchair using community. AIX triggered our journey to certification; this is still ongoing with very few bumps in its journey so far. Please be sure to visit the DFP stand at AIX where a new iteration of Air4All will be on display, alongside other accessible in cabin innovations. Much of what we do is like a papal conclave electing a new pope, but behind closed cabin doors. As you enter Hall B7 you should see the white smoke.
