Teamshares Inc. is an employee ownership platform for small business, driven by proprietary software, education, and financial products. Its mission is to create $10 billion of new wealth for employees through stock ownership. The company buys traditional small businesses from retiring owners to make them 80% employee-owned within 20 years, and provides the companies with new leadership, financial education, equity management software, and financial products. Teamshares is the market leader for small business employee ownership, with 84 companies acquired to date. 

The result is a network of financially durable companies that never have to be sold again—to the benefit of retiring owners, employee owners, companies, and local economies alike. 

Founded in 2019, the company has 140 employees across the U.S. and Canada.

A.W Brown's Pet and Garden is a staple small business in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts and has been embedded in the community for more than 50 years. Recently, the former owner Tom Wheeler retired and chose employee ownership as his legacy with the help of Teamshares. Today Teamshares announced a cumulative $245M in VC funding to scale small business employee ownership with Yuliya Chernova and The Wall Street Journal. 

Our investors include QED Investors, Inspired Capital, Khosla Ventures, Slow Ventures, Spark Capital, Collaborative Fund, Union Square Ventures. 

Since 2021 we’ve grown our revenue from $10M to $400M and helped 84 small businesses across 31 states and 42 industries, representing 2,100 newly-minted shareholders and $28M in new wealth creation. Our goal is 10,000 small businesses and $10B for hard-working Americans. We're just getting started.

Colorado's The Longmont Leader and Macie May shared an incredible story about The Pumphouse Brewery and the recent transition to employee ownership with Teamshares. President Conrad Legendy had this to say: 

“Employee ownership is a more sustainable way for us to keep the business alive,” Legendy said. “We are not trying to change, we are not trying to compromise what made the Pumphouse great. What we want to do is keep it great and keep on growing together with Longmont.”
