This year, despite a 15.8% production increase, we reduced our production carbon emissions by 2.5% – roughly the annual electricity use of 378 homes. This is a promising step in our journey to decarbonise our operations and supply chain as much as possible. One of the key contributors to this was a supplier engagement initiative we hosted in 2023. We understand first-hand the challenges SMEs face in measuring and reporting on their energy use, from unfamiliar terminology to the expense of acquiring the required expertise. Our goal was to provide free resources and support to our suppliers, empowering them to take on this work independently and remove as many barriers as possible. We worked with local experts to design a workshop and create content in Portuguese focusing on energy in production. We were thrilled then that all six suppliers invited attended and participated with enthusiasm. Since this workshop, five of these suppliers have started to track and share their scope 1 and 2 emissions data and have installed solar panels, with our top three suppliers achieving a 73.1% reduction. These results highlight the importance of being in dialogue with suppliers about their type and use of energy, and the positive impact reduction initiatives can have. While the company grew by almost 30% this year, we are proud to have observed only a minimal increase of 1-2% to the total company carbon footprint. This is a testament to the decarbonisation work done so far. Following these significant improvements in our own operations and supply chain, we will need to work towards greater systemic action to drive continued change at this level. While challenging, this is something we strive to influence, as no one brand can achieve this alone. Our annual responsibility report is live. This is our third report on our journey toward greater responsibility, assessing our impact across four key areas: climate action, materials, traceability and social responsibility. Since our first report, we set 19 sustainability goals, updated our progress in the second, celebrated our B Corp certification and outlined initial steps towards decarbonising our operations and supply chain. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished since our last report: - We reduced our production carbon emissions by 2.5% despite a 15.8% production increase. - We continued to support ClientEarth , helping them to raise €452,000 for their efforts to drive systemic change. - We achieved five of our 12 ongoing goals. This includes meeting all our materials goals ahead of our 2025 deadline by switching our hard-to-recycle poly bags to a paper-based design – something we developed for years to ensure it maintained our design standards while meeting our commitment to responsibility. As expected, the work to become more responsible has become increasingly complex, but it’s work we’re proud to do. We’re proud to launch a new sateen bedding and sleepwear collection, introduced following years of development and close collaboration with our long-term production partners. The collection is made using 100% organic cotton, a harder-to-source fibre. We are committed to using organic cotton as part of our responsibility practices. It is produced according to our rigorous and exacting standards, made by skilled producers in Northern Portugal, a region with a rich heritage in textile production.
