Conventional cows’ milk contains two main types of beta casein protein, A2 protein and A1 protein – our branded milk is different from conventional cows’ milk because it comes from cows selected to naturally produce only the A2 protein type and no A1. Our October farmers photo was captured at the Stewart Family Farms. They produce milk for The a2 Milk Company at Yarrawalla in Northern Victoria, Australia. Their family are fourth generation dairy farmers who have been farming in the area for over 80 years, and milk 800 cows on 600 acres of irrigated pasture. Arohena Pastoral Ltd have a team of 6 staff members, supplying Lead with Pride™ - Gold Plus, A1 protein free milk to Synlait Pokeno, in the Waikato, NZ. The team is always growing and here is the latest addition, Ava Maxwell! The board are very proud of the focus on environmental sustainability and the planting of 100,000 trees on sidelings of the 380ha mixed contoured block, milking 680 A2/A2 cows.

The a2 Milk Company are proud to share enhancements to our global family leave policy. The family leave policy is now gender neutral, providing access to paid parental leave to all permanent team members across all teams and locations. Our new policy provides permanent team members of any gender who are welcoming the arrival of a child through pregnancy, adoption, surrogacy, fostering or kinship arrangements with 20 weeks leave at full pay, with no qualifying period and the removal of primary and secondary carer labels. This gender-neutral parental leave is another important part of our commitment to gender equity in the workplace and taking the gender bias out of parental leave. We recognise that by providing equitable and supportive arrangements for all genders, this can promote wellbeing benefits for families and the community more broadly. What a beautiful picture for our August Farmers photo! AJs Farm is a family operation in their fourth season of supplying milk from only A2/A2 verified cows. Milking 350 cows and calving in the spring, the Te Awamutu, New Zealand, mornings can be a cold foggy start to the day.
