On World Malaria Day TLG Capital is proud to re-affirm its commitment to helping combat malaria and achieving US Sustainable Development Goal number 3, which aims to ensure health and wellbeing for all ages. Africa accounts for up to 95% of malaria cases and 96% of fatalities, and TLG’s portfolio continues to distribute anti-malarial medication that will ultimately help eradicate the disease.
 
In East Africa, Cipla Quality Chemicals is one of the foremost contributors to The New Uganda Malaria Elimination Strategy Plan 2021-2025. This strategy aims to reduce malaria infections by 50% , morbidity by 50% and mortality by 75% by 2025.

TLG Pharma: Distributed over 284 million EU-compliant medications since 2020 across some of Africa’s poorest countries.

Cipla Quality Chemicals: Manufacturing medication for over 1,000,000 Ugandans currently receiving HIV treatment.

Express Pharmacy: Combatted the rise of counterfeit and expired drugs in Nigeria by providing low and middle communities with verified medication.

However, there remains much to be done to mobilize capital into healthcare from the private sector! As highlighted by the International Finance Corporation, healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa remains the worst in the world, with few countries able to spend the $40 a year per person that the World Health Organization considers the minimum for basic healthcare.

🏥 Women are 1.7 times more likely to be infected with HIV than men
