It offers journals, events, a library, archives and training services to its 156,000 members across 148 countries. James’ role as a Committee Member of IET involves attending monthly committee meetings and supporting the organisation of local talks and events. Most recently, along with others from the committee, he hosted a Professional Registration Event in Cardiff where engineers of all levels could come and get advice on becoming professionally registered (e.g. Chartered, Incorporated Engineering, Engineering Technician). This day holds a special place in our hearts, as many of our team members are proud veterans. Case Study: Andy Pugh Senior Principal Consultant Programme Management – Cost Engineering Practice Advisor to the IMechE (RSB) In his role as Advisor to the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (RSB) Andy advises current IMechE RSB leadership on how to enhance involvement of Regional Chairs in the RSB and recommend new strategies that will lead to more IMechE Members realising the various benefits of their membership via their region. Of its 115,000 global members, approx. 80,000 reside in the UK and the IMechE’s Headquarters is in Westminster, London. This strong UK presence is distributed across 16 IMechE regional committees, which are led by the IMechE RSB. Through their accessibility, these regions are often the main way for Members to get involved and obtain Member benefits. It is essential that these grassroots hubs are managed well and effectively supported so that members can receive value from their subscription; develop their skills as professionally registered engineers; and have a way of providing a societal benefit through their skills. An insightful paper from our sister company, Sagentia Innovation which aligns strongly with TP Group 's Futures / Concepts capabilities and focus. We recently completed a project for Dstl on telerobotic medicine; working in collaboration with Sagentia Innovation we looked at roadmapping the technology in this area for front line use. During this task, TP Group and Sagentia Innovation: (1) Investigated the current state of the technology; and (2) Undertook horizon scanning to examine future technology development across a set of innovation pathways and identify aspects of the technology area that require development (including expected times / costs to reach maturity). Outputs from the work were used to produce technology and system roadmaps for future development and exploitation of telexistence in defence.
