This week at The Lodging Conference , I sat down with longtime friend and colleague, Greg Dickhens of Trinity Investments . We talked about our journeys in the hospitality industry, lessons learned and challenges faced in our careers, and the importance of mentorship and paying it forward. Several Marriott International leaders also took the stage during the conference – including Liam Brown , Diana Plazas-Trowbridge , and Jenna Jacobson – to discuss everything from the state of the hospitality industry and opportunities for growth, to the luxury travel landscape and growth of the affordable midscale segment. Speaking of growth, we also announced the expansion of City Express by Marriott into the U.S. & Canada, marking our debut in the transient midscale segment in the region. Over the past few months, Hyatt Regency Greenwich has renovated its atrium and F&B venues, as well as updated its athletic equipment and technological offerings. The Trinity-owned property will also transform its guestrooms this year. “The whole purpose is to get back to the heritage from the 1920s. In a recent interview with PERE Credit , Trinity Managing Partner, President & CEO Sean Hehir weighed in on the challenges facing the public #REIT market and how these difficulties are creating opportunities for portfolio acquisitions and take-private deals. “When we see rate cuts, we will see more REIT take privates. There are several funds with a huge amount of capital to invest that are on the sidelines. I imagine we will see more privatizations once the debt markets become more robust,” said Sean. JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa has unveiled its Jingle at JW Desert Ridge holiday programming for 2024, which will transform the resort into a winter wonderland in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. The winter display, catering to guests and community members of all ages, will offer amenities such as an ice-skating rink, fire tables, a snow play area, a virtual ski experience, a gondola photo station, and holiday dining.
