Chris highlighted the country’s support for the technology as a major factor, including leading research facilities and pioneering successes like JET. On what could be next for the UK in terms of fusion, he said, “We feel that the stellarator is the technology that is in the best position for a direct shot on goal.”

We’re proud to announce that we have selected the Tennessee Valley Authority’s recently retired Bull Run Fossil Plant as the building site for our first fusion device, Infinity One.

Infinity One will allow us to verify important design features of our future fusion pilot plant, particularly those related to operating efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and affordability. Once completed, Infinity One will be the world’s most advanced stellarator.

This moment is also the beginning of Project Infinity, which includes the establishment of Type One’s headquarters in the East Tennessee area, adding over 300 high-paying jobs to the local economy.

Project Infinity comes with the support of the State of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
