Word Play in the Work Place Phil Kirschner shares a few thoughts on the nuance of language and interpretation. Words Matter For someone who often complained about English classes, I like words a lot. It's not that I have a massive vocabulary. Or that I can do Sunday NYT crosswords. I just think it's important to interrogate the words we use, especially in sensitive, media-fueled debates like the "office vs. remote" one at which I've been at the center. "I began my career with six years full of learning curves at McKinsey & Company in Berlin, specializing in organizational design and operations. As part of the firm’s public sector and organization practices, I led a range of projects across public and private sectors, working closely with clients to develop sustainable, high-impact strategies. Following my time at McKinsey, I transitioned to the tech industry, taking on leadership roles in organizational design, revenue operations, business planning, and broader operations for leading companies such as Amadeus IT and unicorns like Job&Talent . These experiences allowed me to deepen my expertise in scaling high-growth organizations and building resilient, strategic functions that drive both growth and efficiency. Originally from Germany, I spent my teenage years in South Africa and Mexico, and I now call Madrid home, where I live with my husband and children. Two years ago, I decided to pivot from tech leadership to establish my own coaching and consulting practice, which has allowed me to work with more than 50 founders and executives globally. My primary focus is on founder and executive coaching, with a blend of individual and systemic coaching approaches. Additionally, I am part of the coaching faculty at IE Business School, where I contribute to the development of emerging leaders. The Role of Technology in Drug Development Ken Beers identifies the pros and cons of using technology in drug development. "Can technology help us make better decisions in drug development by integrating clinical and commercial insights? When weighing investments in clinical evidence against commercial value, we use Target Product Profiles (TPPs), concise summaries of a drug and its clinical profile. Generally, Clinical drafts a few alternatives to explore patient populations and endpoints then Commercial tests these with physicians and payers to forecast sales and commercial costs. This forecast is linked to Clinical's estimates of program duration, cost and risk to find the optimal TPP and gauge its viability.
