From John Murphy: let's set the record straight on foreign trade barriers 👇

It was an honor to host Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his delegation at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce today. And thank you Ambassadors Yamada and Emanuel for your participation. 
 
The meeting provided us with an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to forging the most dynamic economic partnership possible between our countries—and critical and emerging technology will be key to that. Prime Minister Kishida’s visit follows the Chamber leading a delegation to Japan last fall as we hosted the 60th U.S.-Japan Business Conference. 

The bond between our nations is strong and based on shared values the world desperately needs right now. We must lock arms, face outward, and lead together.

Today, we were honored to host Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and Ambassadors Yamada and Emanuel in our Great Hall. With $280 billion in bilateral trade and millions of jobs dependent on the U.S.-Japan relationship, our countries rely on each other for strength, prosperity, and economic resilience.

A clear example of this is around liquified natural gas exports (LNG). Japan and other U.S. allies are relying on U.S. LNG, particularly in this time of heightened geopolitical tensions. The Chamber continues to call on the Biden Administration to reverse course and show global leadership by allowing LNG exports to flow.  

On behalf of the business community, we thank the Prime Minister for speaking with us and our President and CEO, Suzanne Clark. We look forward to deepening our country's relationship and ensuring that the ties between the United States and Japan grow stronger and endure for many years to come.
