Founded in 1984, Proman started as a small PROject MANagement company specialized in the construction of large industrial projects. 
 
Today, Proman is a multi-asset, multi-regional, diversified energy producer with methanol and fertilizer production assets in the United States, Trinidad and Oman and expansion underway in Mexico. Four years after signing our first ship building contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), we were delighted to finally visit the yard to Name the fifth and sixth vessels in our growing Proman and Stena Bulk low-emission methanol-fuelled fleet. 

Led by Proman's Chief Executive David Cassidy and Stena Bulk President and CEO Erik Hånell, we paid tribute to the unwavering commitment of the team at GSI, alongside our Godmothers Ms. Alicia Schnabel and  Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra, Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai.

Both Stena Provident and Stena Progressive will be time chartered, giving more companies the experience of operating methanol-fuelled ships and to realise the immediate air quality benefits and emissions reductions of this fast-growing marine fuel.

The final two vessels of our initial six-strong methanol-fuelled tanker fleet have now been officially named Stena Provident and Stena Progressive at a ceremony at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China. 

Our fleet now represents a quarter of the methanol-fuelled ships currently on the water. 

During the ceremony, the ships were formally named by their godmothers, who bless them for their safe journey across the seas. We would like to thank Miss Alicia Schnabel, godmother of Stena Provident, and Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra, Consul General of Sweden in Shanghai, godmother of Stena Progressive. 

 “Naming Stena Provident and Stena Progressive at GSI is an important milestone for Proman” said David Cassidy, Chief Executive of Proman. “We now have a market-leading fleet of futureproofed methanol tankers that clearly show the way for methanol as a marine fuel.” He also thanked GSI for their outstanding work in delivering the six ships on time, despite the challenges of the pandemic.

Tomorrow we will hold the Naming Ceremonies for Stena Provident and Stena Progressive, the final vessels in the initial six-strong Proman and Stena Bulk JV methanol fleet, at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China. We look forward to celebrating this milestone for the first time at GSI, which completed and delivered all of our state-of-the-art IMOIIMeMAX ships despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Commissioned by European companies, fuelled by methanol produced in Trinidad and the US, expertly constructed in China and crewed by a team of international seafarers, these vessels are a testament to the power of global collaboration.
