Building Safety Through Competence Today’s ICEL conference at the Cavendish Conference Center was highly informative and valuable. A notable highlight was the discussion on the evacuation time for buildings, which was established as 2.5 minutes in 1952. The conference provided crucial insights into the rationale behind the 3-hour duration test, which is conducted to ensure not only the safe evacuation of occupants but also the ability to enter the building if necessary for services. Additionally, the extended duration accounts for potential re-evacuation scenarios in the event of a power failure that leaves the building’s systems inadequately charged. Attendees also had the opportunity to gain insights from a DALI Alliance member, who elaborated on the advantages of adhering to the DALI protocol. One of the key benefits highlighted was the capability to monitor the status of each luminaire. This feature is especially beneficial for facilities managers, as it significantly reduces the time required for maintenance and replacement. Ventilux remains committed to the DALI Alliance protocol and has successfully executed numerous prominent projects using our DALI Connect system. Looking forward to the next ICEL conference.
