Over the last few days, we’ve had multiple opportunities to test fly over the Osaka Bay, close to the upcoming EXPO 2025 location, to get to know the surroundings and learn more about the use cases.  
 
In addition, we’ve also had the chance to explore the city, getting to know one of the most visited locations in Japan. Osaka is a city that combines tradition with innovation, and it is the birth -town of many of the inventions we use today, and we can’t wait to bring a new layer of innovation and mobility to its citizens!

We had the pleasure of hosting not only our local partners and guests, but also 200 students from local schools. They had the chance to ask questions and see firsthand the ins and outs of Volocopter and our pioneering technology. 
 
With only 500 days left until the EXPO begins, it is important that we fly in different conditions, educating ourselves on the potential application scenarios for eVTOLs in Japan, particularly in large cities such as Osaka.

We have officially kicked-off our Japan flight test campaign with #eVTOL flight tests above Osaka Bay.  

Together with NEDO, Japan’s largest research and development organization, we conducted a behavioral flight, testing both ground and air procedures to acclimate our flight crew and supporting staff to EXPO 2025 conditions. #UrbanAirMobility

While this shift comes with a fair share of challenges, such as strict safety requirements, rigorous quality assurance, and extensive documentation efforts, the process of converting into commercially viable products is essential to obtain real environmental benefits.

One giant leap for European Urban Air Mobility! 
 
Our #VoloCity has passed the Aircraft Level System Review audit conducted by EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency against the ARP4754A standard. This mandatory standard defines the system engineering and safety practices and processes necessary for the development of VoloCity to be certified in the European Economic Area. 
 
This is not only a huge step forward on our path to type certification but also a significant achievement for the whole #eVTOL industry seeking EASA certification, as we set a precedent for future standards of safety. As an industry pioneer, only the highest standards of aviation safety will suffice, and this accomplishment brings us closer to the commercial launch in the European market.

Decarbonizing aviation is no small feat, but it's a mission we're all in together. And it comes with unique challenges like weight requirements and size limitations, long innovation cycles, and high costs for adapting new tech at scale.  
 
There are three proposed solutions for the future of sustainable aviation: Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), hydrogen, and electric propulsion. They serve different purposes determined by various factors, such as aircraft size, flight range potential, and business cases, including cost performance. We are proud to be a part of the future of air mobility and we are ready to lead the way! 
 
Over the past 6 weeks, we had the privilege to fly 4 times in 4 different U.S. states. Our journey began in Texas, at the UP Summit in Dallas Fort-Worth, and took us west to Las Vegas, Nevada for the NBAA-BACE. We then headed east to Tampa, Florida, and concluded our road trip by making history as the first-ever #eVTOL to fly in New York City.  
 
Wrapping up our U.S. road trip, we give a big thank you to everyone who has come out to see us and support our flight tests. Witnessing the enthusiasm and appreciation from our onsite audience has brought us immense joy and is making us look forward to a bright future.
