Waymap is a high-technology business that was founded to address the navigation needs of visually impaired persons. Since then, however, we have expanded our vision to provide the world's most accurate and inclusive navigation app, driven by cutting-edge technology.

Installed across a city’s transport network, streets and major buildings, our app gives step-by-step guidance as soon as you step out your door. It works anywhere we have a map.

We were delighted that our Tom Pey was invited to speak at the National Convention for the blind, hosted by the NFB over in Orlando, Florida last weekend. 

⭐️Tom spoke on a panel about the benefit Waymap’s accessible technology will bring to the lives of thousands of visually impaired users: a navigational solution which you can put in your pocket; which is attuned to bus and train arrival times; which is hands-free and learns the way you walk. Which works indoors, outdoors and even deep underground. 

It was fantastic to hear the enthusiasm of the crowd and the excitement amongst the blind and visually impaired communities for a navigation app which meets their needs, encourages new exploration, and really listens to the wishes of the communities it serves.

Since 2023, we have rolled out Waymap-SG, a free audio-based wayfinding app that aims to help visually impaired passengers navigate bus interchanges and MRT stations safely and independently.
 
The first-of-its-kind in the Asia-Pacific, the app stands out with its unique approach of utilising the phone's sensors to calibrate to the user's walking gait and speed. Moreover, users can opt for a step-free (barrier-free) mode for added safety, avoiding steps and escalators. The app also operates without the need for GPS, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signals, so it can easily be used both indoors and outdoors. Starting from mid-July, users can also check out bus arrival timings through the app!
 
Waymap-SG is currently being piloted at Tampines Bus Interchange and Downtown Line Tampines MRT Station, and is free to download from the App Store and Google Play.

London's Waymap has recently secured £7M in funding to further their development of a cutting-edge navigation app. 

This app stands out for its unique capability to provide accurate navigation indoors, outdoors, and even underground, independent of traditional GPS systems. Utilizing a revolutionary algorithm, SmartStep, it leverages the smartphone's built-in sensors to offer step-by-step guidance with up to one-meter accuracy. 

This advancement not only aims to dramatically improve the mobility of visually impaired individuals but also holds promise for enhancing the navigation experience for all users. 

Waymap's innovative approach and the recent investment led by the TELUS Pollinator Fund for Good mark a significant milestone in making cities more accessible and navigable for everyone.

🚀 On Monday, London & Partners Grow London Global Programme kicked off at the Corinthia London. The programme is backed by the Mayor of London and supported by Microsoft, Scottish Enterprise, West Midlands Growth Company, Oury Clark, Taylor Wessing, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and GrantTree.
