WHISTLES

For Pride 2024, we are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with akt to raise funds to support LGBTQ+ youth facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.

During June, July and August, we will donate 10% of each jewellery sale in-store and online to akt. The money we raise will help their mission to support young people into safe homes, employment, education, and training in a welcoming and open environment that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities.

We hear from our Brand Editor and Creative Producer, Daniel, on what this charity partnership means to #TeamWhistles:

"Pride is a great time to reflect on how far we've come, but it's imperative to note how far we've still got to go. In 2024, the UK still isn't safe for LGBTQ+ youth, with 1 in 4 facing violence at home or being left homeless simply for being who they are. No one should have to live in fear like this, but unfortunately, this is the reality. It's been an absolute honour to work with akt at Whistles, an organisation so close to my heart, the work they do is truly inspiring; helping young people out of crisis, and into safe accommodation, education, training, healthcare and more."

Recently, we had the privilege of catching up with a dear friend of #Whistles, Anna Cascarina. From being a fashion editor, stylist, and content creator, she has now added the title of 'author' to her list of achievements. We had the opportunity to capture her at home, adorned in her favourite Whistles pieces, just before the launch of her book, 'The Forever Wardrobe.' We delved into her journey of embracing ageless style, the process of writing her new book, and her fearless approach to challenging conventional fashion norms.
 
We were thrilled to host an in-store event to celebrate her book launch in our St Christopher's Place flagship. We caught up with store manager Leah, who said, "There was a great turnout for Anna's launch, and the St Chris team always loves collaborating to host events. We can't wait for the next one!"

To celebrate the end of Ramadan, #TeamWhistles marked Eid al-Fitr by hearing from one of our colleagues, Nailah, who shared her personal perspective and beautiful traditions surrounding Eid. 
 
Its moments like these that remind us of the importance of coming together to share and celebrate. On behalf of WHISTLES, we hope those celebrating had a happy and blessed Eid al-Fitr.

Last month, as part of our International Women’s Day celebration, we visited  photographer Tami Aftab at her home in London for a photoshoot and interview. Our Editorial Team have worked with Tami for several years now. 

Reflecting on her work with Whistles, Tami says, “I love  the intimate shoots with creatives I've done for Whistles. It’s always a window into someone else’s life, capturing their essence in just a few hours.”

Helena Stocks, our Content and Social Media Editor, also shares her experience of working with Tami, “We started out just working on small profile shoots with Tami and that extended to our larger Kids Campaigns; she brings a unique perspective and creativity to every project. It feels like a full-circle moment to shift the spotlight onto her and her exceptional work.”
