Co sprawia, że pracując jako freelancer jesteś mało produktywny? Niektórzy twierdzą, że jest to wina zewnętrzych rozproszeń (w końcu współczesny świat uzależnia nas od ciągłych bodźców), inni uważają, że jest to brak jasno określonego planu działania. Zawsze staramy się podejść do rzeczy holistycznie. Problemem jest, ogólnie rzecz biorąc, brak efektywności. Dlaczego freelancerzy tego doświadczają? Ponieważ przez całe życie byliśmy przyzwyczajeni do typowej pracy zmianowej 9-17. Nawet system edukacyjny zbudowany jest wokół nauki takiego modelu pracy! Gdybyśmy mieli sformułować prawo Murphiego w świecie projektowania graficznego, brzmiałoby ono: najlepsze pomysły przychodzą nam do głowy wtedy, kiedy najmniej się tego spodziewamy. Był późny, mroźny wieczór. Jacek właśnie kładł się spać, kiedy w końcu doznał olśnienia: spłaszczona serpentyna! Ale od początku. Od czego zaczyna się cała praca grafików nad danym projektem. W większości przypadków od… logo. To w końcu właśnie z logo wywodzi się identyfikacja wizualna i komunikacja marki. Logo to informacja natychmiastowa, którą odbiorca przyswaja w ułamku sekundy. Tworząc logo musimy więc wiedzieć przede wszystkim co marka chce zakomunikować światu. Tworzenie logo wymaga zgłębienia charakteru firmy, stojącej za nią filozofii. To odpowiedzialność i ogromne wyróżnienie. To takie wyzwania lubimy najbardziej, więc kiedy agencja pracy Workizer® poprosiła nas o pomoc w przygotowaniu nowego logo, nie zastanawialiśmy się ani przez sekundę. A potem się zaczęło: szkice, pomysły, konceptualizacje - nie ma co ukrywać - nad pierwszą propozycją głowiliśmy się długo, mając kilka gotowych koncepcji. Żadna nie satysfakcjonowała nas jednak na 100%. Właśnie wtedy, kładąc się spać Jacek doznał olśnienia: spłaszczona serpentyna w kształcie litery W. Potem poszło już gładko - wizualizacje 3D, rozłożenie siatki, projekt 2D i tak oto otrzymaliśmy finalną wersję. Choć praca trwała długie godziny, jej finalny efekt obejrzeć możesz na poniższym, kilkusekundowym filmiku. W trójmiejskim mikrokosmosie świata designu jesteśmy obecni już od ponad dekady. Jeśli jest jedno wydarzenie, które moglibyśmy określić mianem najważniejszego, to bez zastanowienia odpowiedzielibyśmy: #GdyniaDesignDays . Rok temu pisaliśmy o GDD jako o imprezie, na której po prostu trzeba bywać chcąc być na bieżąco w świecie designu. Ale jej największa wartość polega na tym, że aby świetnie spędzić czas wcale nie trzeba interesować się designem. „Wiadomo, że inaczej design będą odbierać projektanci, a inaczej copywriterzy” - tak pisaliśmy rok temu. W tym roku nasza teza została potwierdzona po raz kolejny. W czym tkwi sekret GDD? Design to nie cel, a jedynie środek do celu, którym jest wielowymiarowy dialog na temat przemian w otaczającym nas świecie. To najważniejsza lekcja, którą wyciągnęliśmy z tegorocznej edycji festiwalu. Jaka jest przyszłość polskiego designu? Jak sprawić, by przedmiot był nam naprawdę bliski? #Selfcare for freelancers - usually it is talked about in terms of outside-of-work activities: take time for yourself, create a healthy work-life balance etc. But it needs to be said out loud - sometimes selfcare is telling your client “no, there won’t be more free amendments”. Sometimes you need to be proactive and not let work get to your head. After 10 years of experience we have gotten quite good at that - and we want to share the knowledge with you! Sometimes there are those moments, when the concentration of anger and a desire to show off actually leads to something good. We’ve learnt that the best thing to do is to try to turn the negative into positive. That’s the attitude we always follow. Because let's keep it real - sometimes clients just do drive you crazy. So was the case for chef George Cram, who got a plate of french fries sent back to his kitchen. The customer complained that they were “too soggy”, “too thick” and “not salted enough”. So what did chef Cram do? The polar opposite: he cut them as thin as he could, fried them as crispy as possible, and made them extra salty. And - you already know it - the potato chips were invented. Sometimes, clients do drive you crazy, but with the right attitude, their criticism can spark creativity and lead to unexpected success. Don’t be afraid to clash ideas - sometimes it can put your name in the history book.
