With our new #Funding program, we support organizations that work to tackle structural economic injustices and are led by people with lived experience of inequality. 🔍 The program has three focus areas: care, technology and wealth. 🇪🇺 Workers from non-EU countries are employed all over Europe – but when it comes to their rights, there is a two-tier system. 🚫 Workers from the low-wage sector often live and work in particularly precarious conditions – even though their labour in areas such as care, agriculture or the meat industry is just as needed as labour in the so-called “critical skills” sector. ⚖️ Our project partner Platform for Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) campaigns for the rights of migrant workers and therefore has established a network of supporting organizations throughout the EU. Fachgespräch zur Migrationspolitik: Kontinuität oder Paradigmenwechsel? In dieser Woche kamen Expert:innen aus Baden-Württemberg bei der Robert Bosch Stiftung zusammen, um gemeinsam mit der Freudenberg Foundation und dem The Expert Council on Integration and Migration aktuelle Entwicklungen, Notwendigkeiten und Ansätze für die Arbeits- und Fachkräftezuwanderung sowie Regularisierungsmöglichkeiten zu diskutieren. Prof. Panu Poutvaara , Mitglied des SVR, präsentierte Kernergebnisse des Jahresgutachtens des Sachverständigenrats für Integration und Migration und beleuchtete dabei die Spannungen zwischen der Vision eines liberalen Einwanderungslands und notwendigen Restriktionen, die politisch sorgfältig ausbalanciert werden müssen. Die Diskussion machte deutlich, wie öffentliche Meinung und die praktische Umsetzung durch komplexe bürokratische Verfahren Kommunen, Länder und Bundesbehörden vor große Herausforderungen stellen. Es braucht alle Beteiligten für einen konstruktiven Umgang mit Zuwanderung und die Gestaltung unserer Einwanderungsgesellschaft - in Wirtschaft, Gewerkschaften, Politik, Verwaltung und Zivilgesellschaft! 💼 The workplace is one of the few places where people of different ages and social backgrounds still interact. However, polarization and ideological debates are also present in the business context. 🗯️ So what do we need? 💪 Employees whose democratic skills are strengthened. People who are committed to a sustainable participatory culture in the companies they work for. This is where our Civic Scouts at Work program comes in. 🚢 In Gdańsk, the participants have now presented the results of the projects they have carried out in their companies in Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary over the past three years: some of them have strengthened internal decision-making or democratic participation of their colleagues, some have developed a diversity and inclusion strategy, while others have also worked in local communities on a fundraising project for local socio-cultural initiatives. We believe that companies have an important role to play in strengthening political culture and promoting a vibrant #Democracy .
