Happy birthday #NewOne! 🎉 

Exactly a year ago #TeamHaniel moved into our cool new offices on #EnkelfähigCampus. Our 100 years old headquarter had been redesigned and renovated to a collaborative workplace reflecting our new work culture. With open team and community areas as well as meeting rooms for different needs NewOne offers a lot of opportunities and is a great place to work.

This is what we have learned in the last year:  🔎 
1. Feels like home: A good atmosphere and modern surroundings helped a lot with motivating the teams to come back to the office. However, intelligent building control doesn't always have to be intelligent – a misplaced sensor can cause the sun blinds ☀ to move up and down randomly 😅 
2. Socializing across teams: Open areas and meeting zones at the bar or on the balcony offer many opportunities to interact with colleagues from other teams, even informally and by chance☕. And since there is no longer the classic waste bin under the desk (which many people miss), people often meet in the kitchen.
3. Living a hybrid culture with modern technology 💻: When home and office have a lot to discuss, technology has to work. Our modern meeting rooms make quick meetings a lot easier 😍.

We are happy about our new home and thank everyone who made NewOne possible! To celebrate the day we’re having cake today for everyone! 🎂

🌿 Happy International Plant Appreciation Day! 🌿

As we celebrate the beauty of nature today, let's put a spotlight on the crucial role that plants play in combating climate change: Absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and thus helping to mitigate the impacts of greenhouse gases and stabilize our climate.

Our green #EnkelfähigCampus is the home of a biodiverse compensation area but as well to several old trees that bear witness to our history. Meet the oldest of them: At least 175 years old, our Ginkgo has definitely seen a lot of change. The 20 metre high tree dates back to the first half of the 19th century and perhaps even offered Franz Haniel himself a shady place to relax.

Nowadays, it welcomes every visitor as they enter the campus.

Der neue Sneaker Haniel von Grubenhelden GmbH ist da! 👟 

Es ist uns eine Freude und Ehre zugleich, dass Grubenhelden den Schuh Franz Haniel gewidmet hat. So können wir stolz unsere Bergbau-Geschichte in jedem dieser Sneaker wiederfinden.

„Kauen“ sind die Badelatschen der Bergleute. Die mintgrüne Sohle des Sneakers ist in einem Wabenmuster gestaltet, wie es die Kumpel damals nach der Schicht in ihren Kauenlatschen trugen. Damit ist der Sneaker Haniel der erste Schuh, der die Geschichte des Ruhrbergbaus erzählt. Außerdem ist er aus ressourcenschonendem Material, fair und vegan in Europa produziert und passt damit perfekt in unsere #enkelfähige Vision einer lebenswerten Zukunft. 

Der Schuh kommt in drei coolen Farben und ist in den Größen 36 bis 47 erhältlich. Wir können es kaum erwarten, die Haniel Sneaker diesen Sommer auf den Straßen des Ruhrgebiets zu entdecken.

Solar powered CCTV keeping an eye 👀 on wind turbine repair work! Here is how our portfolio company ‌BauWatch helps Spanish customers keep up the expansion pace of #renewables …

#Spain has recently seen remarkable growth in green energy projects. Thanks to its sunny plains, fast-flowing rivers and wind-swept hillsides, locational factors are a big asset for the South European state on its way to raise the share of renewables to four-fifths by 2030.

As investments in wind and solar infrastructure are increasing, more and more energy parks are prioritizing security of their facilities and protection 🛡️ of their equipment. An ever-important part of construction & maintenance, since 2021 data reported 4,323 theft crimes in Spanish #construction alone, causing unplanned delay and costs.

👉 That’s where Haniel’s portfolio company ‌BauWatch Spain comes into play – with #CCTV towers and a control center that acts quickly and competently day or night.

When our colleagues entered the Spanish market last year, they chose the Valencian outskirts as their HQ location – in the center of the Mediterranean coast and halfway between Madrid and Barcelona. With Solarpack as their first client, renewable energy right away set the scene for #BauWatch towers on a large solar farm. And when Nordex had to repair a wind turbine at the Gecama wind farm at the end of 2023, a BauWatch Solar ☀️ tower was installed – running autonomously and self-sufficiently on solar energy.
