🚀 Exciting new research! We've just published "QKD as a Quantum Machine Learning task" on arXiv (arXiv:2410.01904). We explore Quantum Key Distribution ( #QKD ) protocols through the lens of Quantum Machine Learning ( #QML ), defining and investigating a novel #QML task: Optimizing eavesdropping attacks on the BB84 protocol. In a noise-free setting, we found an explicit circuit for optimal individual attacks using #QML techniques. For noisy settings, we discovered a new cloning algorithm that outperforms known methods. We also presented a #QML construction of a collective attack from classical post-processing. Check out our paper to learn more! #QKD is a secure communication method that enables two parties, traditionally named as #Alice and #Bob , to produce a shared random secret key known only to them, which can then be used to encrypt and decrypt messages. This process relies on the principles of quantum mechanics to ensure the security of the key. In the light of this situation, we see #QKD as an attractive field of research for #QML : #QKD protocols operate on small-scale quantum systems, and those systems are already sufficient for interesting #QML applications.
