𝗘𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗭𝗲𝗶𝘁 𝗳ü𝗿 𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗲. Eine eigene Idee zu einer Vision zu entwickeln und diese in einer Unternehmung aufleben zu lassen – dafür schlägt jedes Unternehmerherz. Es ist beflügelnd das Team, die Firma und die Kunden wachsen zu sehen. Als Gründer und Mensch wird man reifer, mutiger und gleichzeitig erdet die Reise auf der scheinbar nicht anhaltenden Achterbahn und macht an einigen Punkten auch angreifbar. Jede Reise hat Ihre Zwischenhalte und letztlich auch ein Ende. Ein Blick zurück: Anfang 2019 stieg ein amerikanischer Investor bei meiner powercloud ein, in der ich Ende 2022 meinen Posten als CEO abgab, um dann im Beirat für die neuen und alten Geschäftsführer da zu sein. Im Nachhinein betrachtet, eine zerreibende Rolle für einen Gründer: Hatte man vorher doch das Zepter in der Hand, konnte man fortan nur noch punktuell beraten und war nicht im Detail eingebunden. Ein Unternehmerherz stolpert dabei nicht selten. Ich kann anderen Gründern nur raten, für sich zu prüfen, ob diese Rolle für sie im (ehemals) eigenen Unternehmen wirklich eine passende ist. Meine powercloud-Reise endete spontan Anfang Februar 2024, nachdem der US-Investor die Entscheidung getroffen hatte, das Unternehmen vollständig zu veräußern: An ein weltweit tätiges, börsennotiertes Unternehmen. Ein Käufer mit eigener Strategie und eigenen Zielen, die natürlich auch eigene Entscheidungen mit sich bringen. Entscheidungen, die ich nicht mehr zu bewerten und ebenso wenig zu verantworten habe. On Monday, February 12, 2024, Hansen Technologies (stock exchange symbol ASX: HSN), acquired all shares from General Atlantic as well as my shares in powercloud GmbH. When I founded powercloud 12 years ago it was still completely unclear where the path would lead to. After initial skepticism from the energy industry, we were able to become a recognized driver of innovation and ultimately the cloud billing standard in Germany. Even more likely than the chance of success was often the possibility of failure. The entrepreneurial courage was rewarded, however. Today, I look back gratefully and proudly on twelve intense years - with many people around me who supported powercloud over bumpy roads, through valleys and over high hills. And who love this company as much as I do. It is these people who have built an alliance with me behind a vision. Even when it got tough – they never gave up. And with people I do not just mean the powercloud employees, but also many people at partners and customers. We have not only grown together individually, but we have also grown together as friends and a strong team. Today I say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being able to experience this with you. My time as a shareholder and Chairperson of the Advisory Board at powercloud has now ended with the takeover by Hansen Technologies - I would have loved to remain a part of it and I will miss it. Hundreds of messages via WhatsApp, e-mail and the many phone calls are overwhelming me right now – please give me some time to respond. As the founder and father of powercloud, I will continue to follow every step and look forward to further growth. powercloud will achieve a lot and change the energy industry even more in future. I am too full of energy and too young to retire. We will see where my path leads me to. Every ending holds the magic of a new beginning: something completely new, a new (r)evolution, something great.
