We are happy and grateful that our colleagues at Stern Ingredients México discovered the wonderful private initiative “Ayudante al Niño IAP” near Mexico City. It provides loving, extended family-style care to orphans and children in difficult family circumstances. Donations from our subsidiary Mühlenchemie are helping get renovations underway, and we also cover school fees and medical care for the kids. In this way we are making a modest contribution to ensuring that young folks can look positively into the future. We’re a family business, so the people at the various locations in our group are important to us. Our colleagues at Stern Ingredients Mexico Hendrik Begemann and Juana Salinas Cruz support the project locally, and see themselves not only as donors but also as advisors, so that 100 percent of the help gets where it needs to be and has a lasting effect.

For 18 women from our subsidiaries, at the Muddy Angel Run 2024 in Hamburg no ditch was too deep and no obstacle too slippery. Hand in hand they crossed the finish line – wet, muddy, and happy. It was an unforgettable day far removed from routine work. All earnings from the run go to the fight against breast cancer. 🎗️ Together with its partners, in the past years the organizer has collected over € 700,000 in donations. 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟗𝟗 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎! 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 🎉 A small idea turned into a big success in just 3 years. The "More Milk for Children in Uganda" initiative has donated over 1000 cows for mothers and children in the Butiru region. This was possible only through the efforts of many sponsors, and more are joining all the time. At our second Cow Ambassador Meeting in Hamburg more than 100 guests listened to a presentation by the Project Coordinator, Sister Elisabeth Mwaka and her daughter Christine. The Honorary Consul of Uganda, Prof. Dr. Dietrich, was clearly impressed by the effectiveness of the campaign. Launched by Volkmar Wywiol in 2021, the project is monitored on-site, and improves the nutritional basis of children in East Uganda. The idea is simple - with a cow worth 300 Euros, a mother can give her many children nourishing milk every day, sustainably, for many years and the first calf goes to another family. And as the bridge between warehousing and production, he and his team have a special responsibility. If material doesn’t come from warehousing in time, production comes to a halt. Even regular days have their challenges, and when big things like plant modifications are underway, the ability to improvise on the fly becomes critical. Our Doer of the Year always keeps the big picture in view even in those situations – and he’s shown that he’s always willing to face a new professional challenge. After starting as a minijobber, he took in-house training and then further training as a Logistics Foreman. Yvo gets to it and doesn’t give up. He has now received a well-deserved recognition! Especially for plant-based alternatives to desserts like tiramisu and cheesecake, the final product has to taste good and deliver sustained enjoyment. So the colleagues at our subsidiary Planteneers are constantly working on new solutions. "Whether plant-based alternatives to high protein pudding, soft-melt ice cream or mascarpone, the combination of ingredients must harmonize in flavour and have a pleasant mouthfeel," says Linda Eitelberger . "Especially with high protein products, it's a challenge we face all the time." One of Planteneers' latest developments is a a plant-based alternative to fermented cream dessert, reminiscent of a petit-suisse-type dessert, which has a creamy mouthfeel and can be mixed with various fruit preparations. The core filling inside our HERZA Schokolade bars that are being distributed by SternLife , becomes quite bitchy if the atmosphere is too cold or too dry. Experience and instinct are needed for handling it. That is where Risto Najdovski comes in. Day in, day out he makes sure that everything is as it should be. As a team leader, he not only watches over the heat chambers that create optimum storage conditions for the sensitive raw material; he also attends to organization and communication in the bar mass production unit at HERZA. “I’m an inquisitive man, always on the move, and I find my way into all the offices. I enjoy this personal contact, and it brings me a host of valuable information.” With this, he has rightly earned the award “Go-Getter of the year”.
