ENFOR was established in 2006 with a focus on energy systems, artificial intelligence, statistics, advanced modelling and forecasting techniques and are based on the research activities which has been carried out at Technical University of Denmark (DTU)  for the past twenty five years.

ENFOR A/S joins partnership to improve energy sector weather forecasting by 10 percent. ENFOR A/S , Ørsted , Danmarks Meteorologiske Institut , and several other partners aim to enhance energy sector forecasts for solar and wind energy. The goal is to reduce imbalances and costs for system services that ensure the production and consumption of green electricity in Denmark. ENFOR forecasts more than 15% of worldwide installed wind and solar capacity, so participating in a project like this is natural to ENFOR. Mikkel Westenholz, Managing Director says: "We expect the new collaboration to save time and money for our key customers, who include both system operators and those trading electricity. This includes asset owners like Ørsted or Vattenfall – or electricity traders who do not own the production themselves. For all of them, inaccurate energy forecasts can cause gaps in the grid they buy and deliver power to, and these gaps need to be filled with electricity that becomes more expensive to purchase in the short term," Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dBkTgwbj

POWER-PARTNERE VIL FORBEDRE PROGNOSER FOR GRØN ENERGI 🌤 Vejrudsigten i tv eller mobil-appen er god at have, når man skal vælge mellem shorts eller regntøj. Den samme logik gælder for energihandlere og -operatører, der bruger vejrprognoser og tilknyttede energiprognoser, når energisystemet i Danmark skal klædes på efter forholdene. Det fortæller Mikkel Westenholz , CEO i den danske virksomhed ENFOR A/S , der aktuelt leverer prognoser for cirka 15 procent af alle vind- og solenergianlæg i verden. ”I innovationsprojektet Weather2X ønsker vi at forbedre de modeller, der konverterer vejr til energi. Ved at forbedre energiprognosernes nøjagtighed med op til ti procent kan vi tilsvarende optimere energiproduktionen fra vedvarende energikilder og de ydelser, der understøtter produktionen, når der ikke er sol eller vind,” siger Mikkel Westenholz. Weather2X er støttet af EUDP - Det Energiteknologiske Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram og har en partnerkreds, der består af ENFOR A/S , DTU Compute , DTU Wind and Energy Systems , Danmarks Meteorologiske Institut , Vattenfall og Ørsted . Danmarks nationale energiklynge, Energy Cluster Denmark , faciliterer innovationsprojektet, der blandt andet bygger videre på erfaringer fra et tidligere samarbejde, innovationsprojektet Eurogrid. Her arbejdede Ørsted, ENFOR, DTU og flere andre partnere sammen om en digital prognoseplatform, der har sparet energisektoren for et stort millionbeløb. I det nye projektpartnerskab, #Weather2X , skal de medvirkende virksomheder og forskere blandt andet optimere energiprognoser med afsæt i erfaringerne fra Eurogrid – og nu også med et øget fokus på åbne datasæt mellem partnerne. Det fortæller Jan Hvidberg , Lead Analyst i Ørsted. ”I stedet for at forlænge verden med brædder fra et enkelt punkt, kan man gøre det fra mange punkter i en region. Det tror vi kan give gode forbedringer, særlig på de korte tidshorisonter. Jeg håber også, vi står med endnu bedre energiprognoser i slutningen af innovationsprojektet. I den seneste weekend har vi fx stoppet vores kraftværker og leveret al el, varme og systemydelser fra vind og elkedler. We are excited to share that Thomas Heltborg Juul and Thomas Rimaas has joined ENFOR 1st of March. Thomas Heltborg Juul is our new CCO and will help us continue our growth and leverage our full commercial potential. Most recent Thomas has been CEO in GreenMobility – a car-sharing company with 1,700 electric vehicles across multiple cities in Europe. Thomas comes with +20 years of management experience from Media, Software, Car-sharing and Electric Vehicles Infrastructure. Besides this Thomas is Board Member in Selected Car Group. Thomas motivation to join ENFOR: “ENFOR has a great product, and huge potential. Already forecasting and optimizing 15% of Worldwide installed renewable energy in 34 countries, the product has proved its value. At the same time, I still see a huge potential to increase the footprint with new products and a leaner approach to help leverage the transition to renewable energy across the globe. I really look forward to working with the team on this meaningful matter. “ Thomas Rimaas is our new employee in charge of finances and will help us to support the administrative functions and the dedicated team of skilled colleagues. Most recent Thomas has been filling out the role as Business Support Manager in a Nordic consultancy company within cyber security. Thomas comes with a wide range of operational skills obtained through many years of work in various types of businesses. Thomas motivation to join ENFOR: “ENFOR is a key player in the field of sustainable energy. Bringing intelligence into the supply equation helps the producers maximize the turnover of their investments and making it a, not only safer, but also more profitable business. Hence expanding the volume of renewable energy supplied to the world at the expense of polluting energy sources. I find this a truly inspiring task that I can be a part of the transition for the benefit of myself and my children.”
