‘Stealth’ no more! We are pleased to announce our lead investment in 280 Earth, a spin-out from Google's X, the moonshot factory, after several years of work and leadership from Darren Bonnstetter, jacques gagne, Gideon Yu and John Pimentel.

The work having pioneered a low-temperature sorbent for efficient carbon capture, powered by industrial waste heat. It not only captures carbon effectively but also produces water for industrial cooling.

Second day on the West Coast, first day in the Bay Area. Jesper Møller Sørensen met with colleagues from Innovation Centre Denmark Silicon Valley and the office of Denmark's Tech Ambassador to talk about collaboration across the US, synergies and the role of the two offices, but more importantly to get to know colleagues based in the Valley. 

Continued the day at GoogleX 280 Earth impressive lab having important discussions with Darren Bonnstetter on direct air capture (DAC) in order to reduce CO2-emissions in the atmosphere, but also to make sure Danish companies play a role and support this technology with Danish innovation in the fight against climate change.

The Ambassador ended the day in beautiful surroundings at the San Francisco Pier engaging in a roundtable talk with people from the administration, industry, civil society and academia reflecting on how to regulate AI, focusing on human rights and digital democracy without hurting the innovation.

During a recent visit to the Colombia River Gorge, Treasurer Read joined the groundbreaking ceremony for 280 Earth's direct air capture facility. Part of a national effort to reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, the facility will help in the fight against climate change! 

It’s been a week since the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) selected Chevron to begin award negotiations for a feasibility study for a direct air capture (DAC) hub in Kern County, and the industry is still buzzing.  
 
I've always been clear in our strategy and how I think about the energy evolution – we need to take a “big tent” approach and consider all the opportunities – and DAC technologies, in addition to Point Source Capture (PSC), show potential in accelerating the lower carbon ambitions of our company and customers. Chevron New Energies (CNE) is working to advance these technologies, and the DAC industrial ecosystem, to help scale viable lower carbon solutions across the value chain with a focus on hard-to-abate industries.
