We are grateful to have the European Parliament represented at tonight’s ceremony with a welcome speech of Member of the European Parliament Laurence Farreng! We warmly thank Laurence Farreng for her support for music authors on this crucial moment. During her speech, Ms. Farreng reiterated her support for music authors by emphasising the importance of authors’ rights and fair remuneration for creators, most specifically in the context of #AI , while also stressing the value of the Creative Europe programme. 🇫🇷 “La plupart des IA génératives se nourrissent des œuvres de nos auteurs et de nos artistes en toute opacité, sans consentement ni rémunération. Lors de l’adoption de la loi européenne sur l’Intelligence Artificielle, le Parlement européen a obtenu l’ajout de quelques dispositions pour le droit d’auteur et pour la transparence de l’IA générative, mais cela ne suffira pas. Nous devons aller plus loin pour offrir suffisamment de garanties aux créateurs et aux secteurs culturels et créatifs. C’est pourquoi je veux vous assurer de mon soutien au cours des prochaines années pour assurer le respect d'une IA responsable, la transparence, le consentement, et la rémunération des créateurs. Je veux enfin vous rappeler l’importance du soutien apporté par l’Union européenne à la vie culturelle de notre continent, via son programme Europe Créative, qui soutient d’ailleurs les Camille Awards. With the EU AI Act, the European Parliament obtained the addition of some provisions on copyright and transparency, but this will not be enough. We must go further to offer sufficient guarantees to creators and to the cultural and creative sector. This is why I want to assure you of my support over the coming years to ensure respect for responsible AI, transparency, consent, and remuneration of creators. Finally, I want to remind you of the importance of the support provided by the European Union to the cultural life of our continent, via its Creative Europe programme, which also supports the Camille Awards. We will of course commit to strengthening it, and I know that I can count on your support”, Ms. Farreng states.

Earlier this month, we organised our final #CapacityTriangle panel of the year at World Soundtrack Awards during Film Fest Gent - 9 > 20 oktober 2024 in Ghent, Belgium. During the panel, Jesper Hansen (BFM, ECSA), Barbara Persyn ( Strike A Score ), Michelino Bisceglia (composer), Jozefien Vanherpe (KU Leuven), and moderator Anselm Kreuzer ( Composers Club e.V. , ECSA) discussed the many questions on #copyright that the rise of #AI services for music generation raises for film and audiovisual composers.
