Our newly renovated Ceramics Lab boasts three electric Skutt kilns, nine Brent Model C throwing wheels, a glaze chemistry lab, climate control, wall-to-wall shelving, and more. It’s a clay lover’s dream for diving into all types of experimental and traditional clay and ceramic techniques. This Institute-wide facility is open to all students, faculty, and staff, with classes and workshops offered each semester. CalArtians participate in the group show AGAINST MONOCULTURE, on view now at Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum in Long Beach, California through Dec. 12. When a city’s culture shifts, what’s left behind? The School of Art's Photo and Media faculty Kaucylia Brooke explores this with THE BOY MECHANIC, a project documenting vanished lesbian bars from San Francisco to Germany. Brooke conducted videotaped interviews with former patrons, diving deep into lesbian bar history, and continues to archive these lost spaces. Images: Kaucylia Brooke.
