Today, Kentucky State University welcomed officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to celebrate the start of a promising partnership focused on enhancing educational opportunities and promoting environmental protection! This collaboration, established through an MOU signed in August 2024, will support KSU students and faculty with joint research, internships, and hands-on projects. One exciting initiative discussed today is the development of a new mobile app, Odor Explore. Designed in collaboration with Louisville’s Air Pollution Control District, this app empowers communities to report and track unpleasant odors from industrial sources. Using features like an innovative “odor wheel,” Odor Explore will help community members provide detailed descriptions of odors, aiding agencies in identifying and managing air quality issues. Together, KSU and the EPA are paving the way for impactful solutions that strengthen our environment and educational community! 🌱💧 #ThorobredsLeadingForImpact

KSU’s mobile health units are designed to deliver both clinical and educational services, offering convenient, transportable healthcare access for individuals and families with limited resources. This program is guided by data-driven research to identify areas with the greatest health needs. The university collaborates closely with local health providers and partner organizations to deliver referrals, follow-ups, and coordinated care to maximize the health benefits for participants. “We are very excited to launch these mobile health units in Louisville and Hazard and bring healthcare directly to underserved communities across the Commonwealth.
