Mid-State Technical College’s Stevens Point campus will now feature “downtown” in its official name. The College formalized the new name, Stevens Point Downtown Campus, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 7. OSHA 10 and 30 for General Industry will be held in Marshfield at Nelson-Jameson, Inc in January. Both courses include an OSHA certification card! OSHA 10 The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Outreach Training Program for General Industry provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in general industry. The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. This class is an orientation to occupational safety and health and is intended to provide workers with awareness of common job related safety and health hazards. Topics include safety data sheets, the OSHA Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, walking and working surfaces, exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans, electrical, personal protective equipment, and hazard communication. Topics may also include hazardous materials, material handling, machine guarding, basic industrial hygiene, blood-borne pathogens, ergonomics, safety and health programs, and fall protection. Monday, January 6 • 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. -AND- Tuesday, January 7 • 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Course Fee: $100 OSHA 30 OSHA 30-hour General Industry Training course is a comprehensive safety training program designed for those working within general industry. Grant funding for Mid-State Technical College’s Meat Cutting and Butchery certificate will continue this spring, making the program free for the next cohort of students starting in January. Funding for the certificate is provided by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Meat Talent Development Grant.
