At 69, Dr. David Carbone knows he could retire at any time, yet he’s the only one of his six siblings — all younger than he — who’s still working. Why? Because through his decades of work, this distinguished lung cancer specialist still enjoys helping his team develop research-based therapies that offer increasing hope to patients living with lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women worldwide.

This afternoon, #BuckeyePaws therapy dog Shiloh was promoted to the military rank of Captain ❤️ In January 2022, Buckeye Paws therapy dogs attended the promotion of Greg Geisler on the helipad of #OSUWexMed . During the ceremony, Captain Geisler bestowed his First Lieutenant patches to Shiloh. In honor of Buckeye Paws' continued support of staff, Captain Geisler and Lt. Colonel Cassidy Devins, an assistant nurse manager, requested to hold a ceremony honorably promoting Shiloh to Captain.

In recovery 13 years, Melissa Plummer works as a chemical dependency counselor in her hometown in Jackson County, south of Columbus. Her own experience with addiction gives all the more credibility and empathy to her work with young people struggling with drugs or alcohol, and oftentimes a mental illness, just as she did.

What an absolute honor and privilege it was to attend the #VeteransDay celebration and hear The Ohio State University The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Chief Operating Officer, Jay Anderson make some thoughtful remarks in recognizing sacrifice and resolve, taking us on a journey of battleships, nautical miles and broken dishes! Yes, we all have damaged crockery in our past, but as he so eloquently put it, that’s where we learn and grow! Thank you to all our #veterans ! 🇺🇸 🫡 Also a moment to recognize Jophiel Philips , someone I am proud to call my brother, and whose voice resonates with many; and he continues to shine a bright light on the memory, sacrifice and selflessness of Army First Sergeant Andrew McKenna, Operation Enduring Freedom, Kabul, Afghanistan, August 2015, 7th Special Forces Group, who gave his life to save others…🫡
