During 3 days, scientists and experts of the field shared latest research work and studies on #Leukodystrophies to advance care for patients.

Braintale presented during an oral communication its study on differential diagnosis of parkinsonian syndromes. Presented data highlight the sensitivity of white matter markers provided by BrainTale for enabling an efficient and robust classification of Parkinsonian syndromes. And more specifically, differentiating PD vs MSA and PSP, two frequent confusing syndromes. A first step with Stéphane Lehéricy and the team towards better Parkinson’s patients care.

Today Florence Kocher, Braintale's CBO, and Marine Bourgeais, Brand Manager at Braintale, are attending the ULF (United Leukodystrophy Foundation) Annual Scientific Symposium, bringing together researchers and physicians whose recent research into #leukodystrophies is of major importance and critical for this high need patient population. 🧠 

It can only strengthen Braintale’s involvement in the #diagnosis and care of #adrenoleukodystrophy patients !

🔎 When a patient with #adrenoleukodystrophy is diagnosed with a progressive and inflammatory evolution of #demyelination. Patient’s life is at stake: death could occur within 2 to 4 years. 

There is no treatment available. The current standard of care is a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to halt the #neuroinflammation. Yet, its efficacy is strongly related to the accuracy and timing of #diagnosis. Too often, patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage and are thus not eligible anymore for HSCT. In addition, HSCT does not seem to prevent the progression of degenerative myelopathy. 🧠

Therefore, there is a crucial need for relevant, sensitive and specific #biomarkers to monitor disease evolution, optimize #care with the right treatment at the right time, and support new disease-modifying therapies development for tomorrow.
